Touching lives in the Tri-Cities

When most people think of Appalachia, they think of remote houses in hidden hollows. But here where the border of Tennessee meets Virginia, you don't have to travel far to find that the need for home repair, for compassion, and for God's love is as great as it is anywhere.

The Tri-Cities of Kingsport, Johnson City and Bristol have many of the same economic problems as Appalachia's more remote hamlets. Here, too, dwell the disabled, the elderly, the injured, the poverty-stricken. Their limited incomes force them to make difficult choices every day. And when that choice is between food or medicine, between electricity or clothing, even the most necessary home repairs fall by the wayside. The result is deteriorating housing as dangerous as any mountain shanty.

Here at ASP, the people of the Tri-Cities are our neighbors. And we need your help to reach out to them with free home repair. And to provide them with the economic breathing room they so desperately need.
