Coal Mining Information

These sites provide information about coal mining. Pay special attention to the data on coal production and employment in coal mining. There you will find data illustrating a major economic fact of life in Appalachia: Coal mines are producing more coal than ever before, but, because of mechanization, mining employs the smallest number of people ever. Mining jobs have simply disappeared, never to be replaced.
