Matching Gift Programs
Many companies offer matching gift programs that will double, and in some cases triple, the value of their employee’s gifts. Some companies will even match gifts and/or volunteer hours made by retirees, spouses and/or children. Please contact your company’s human resources department to determine if your company has a matching gift program and whether your gift to ASP is eligible for a match.
Donations of Stock
Donations of appreciated securities, usually common stock, provide a tax-efficient way of making your gift. Gifts of appreciated securities held for more than one year entitle you to a charitable income tax deduction for the fair market value of the securities on the date of gift. Additionally, you avoid the capital gains tax that would otherwise be due on the appreciation if the security were sold.
Please have your broker contact Lyssa Perry [by fax at (423) 854-9771 or email at gro.e1500553803mohPS1500553803A@yrr1500553803eP.as1500553803syL1500553803] with the number of shares, the company name and your name so that we can accurately credit and track your donation.

Caution: Depreciated securities (securities worth less than you paid for them) should not be given directly to Appalachia Service Project, Inc. Instead, you should sell the securities to generate a tax-deductible capital loss (which can offset your capital gains, or up to $3,000 of ordinary income) and give the sale proceeds to ASP.

In-kind gifts of clothing, food, and school supplies
Appalachia Service Project is very thankful for your generosity and thoughtfulness! As a ministry focused on home repair and transformational volunteer experiences, we are simply not equipped to accept and/or distribute other types of donations, such as clothing, hygiene items, toys, books, etc. We are aware that there is a great need for such items in some of the communities that we serve, but in order to focus all resources on our mission of home repair, we can no longer accept them. Instead, we’d like to share with you the contact information for a few of our partner organizations who need and have the ability to distribute these items. Thanks again for your generosity!
